Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that Hugh Jessiman has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Binghamton community during the 2012-13 season.

A native of the New York metro area, Jessiman rushed to the aid of those affected by Hurricane Sandy by rallying his teammates to organize a supply drive and stick raffle to benefit victims. Not stopping there, Jessiman along with a handful of B-Sens teammates and staff boarded a bus full of supplies in November and personally delivered the items to shelters on Long Island and Staten Island, spending time visiting with victims and first responders.

Upon arriving in Binghamton for training camp at the beginning of the season, Jessiman was quick to volunteer his time for community efforts, especially those that benefit children. He has participated in a variety of youth focused activities including hockey clinics and anti-bullying rallies.

Jessiman has also eagerly volunteered his time at the following events to date:

* The 2012 Binghamton Senators Charity Golf Classic to benefit Wendy's Walk for Kids

* The Magic Paintbrush Project's Paint with the Players event

* The Toys for Tots spaghetti dinner

* Binghamton Hockey Booster Club general membership meetings

Jessiman is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2012-13 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.
