
Two runs in 9th edge out Baysox

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
Two errors committed by the Bowie Baysox (51-44) and a RBI single by Brian Pointer gave the Reading Fightin Phils (53-43) a 6-4 lead in the top of the ninth inning. Reading would hold on to win and improve to ten games over .500 for the first time this season.
For the second straight game against the Baysox, the Fightin Phils took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Cameron Perkins extended his hitting streak to five games with a RBI single off Elih Villanueva that scored JP Crawford who doubled in the previous at-bat. Brock Stassi kept the inning going with a single which was followed by Andrew Knapp's RBI single that scored Perkins. Knapp extended his hitting streak to 17 games, which ties him with Perkins for the longest hitting streak by a Fightin Phil this season.
Art Charles hit a powering home run off Villanueva in the top of the second inning to give Reading a 3-0 lead. The home run was his first since June 11th. Corban Joseph hit a solo home run off Ethan Martin in the bottom of the second inning to cut the Fightins lead to 3-1. Brandon Snyder tied the game at 3-3 off Martin in the bottom of the third inning by hitting a two-run home run.
Trey Mancini hit a two-out, RBI double off Martin in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave the Baysox a 4-3 lead. Martin left the game after five innings where he allowed four runs off eight hits with three strikeouts. Hoby Milner entered the game to pitch the bottom of the sixth inning. He pitched two shutout innings, recording three strikeouts.
JP Crawford tied the game at 4-4 with a solo home run off Jason Garcia in the top of the seventh inning. It was his second home run in the span of three games.
Colton Murray (4-1) entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. He pitched two shutout innings for his fourth win of the season. Cameron Perkins left the game in the top of the 4th inning due to injury.
The Fightin Phils and Baysox wrap up their series on Wednesday morning. First pitch is at 11:05 am. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 10:35 am.
