Two Knighthawks added to NLL Eastern Division All-Star team

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks defenseman Mike Hasen and forward Shawn Williams were selected today as reserves for the Eastern Division team at the 2005 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game. The contest will be played in Calgary on Saturday, February 26th and will air live on NBC at 2:00 p.m. Eastern.

Hasen and Williams join teammates John Grant, Andrew Turner and Pat O'Toole on the Eastern Division team, which will be led by K-Hawks Head Coach Paul Day. Hasen is in his seventh season with Rochester, and 11th in professional lacrosse. The Knighthawks' team captain and is making his third all-star appearance, having played in 2002 and 2004.

Williams is making his second all-star appearance, having played in the event in 2002. This season he is second on the Knighthawks with 37 points (15+22) in six games. Last season, he led Rochester with 81 points (45+36) and was named an NLL First Team All-Pro. The K-Hawks' alternate captain was acquired in 2001 from the Buffalo Bandits.

The Eastern and Western Division All-Star teams each consist of 18 players (16 runners and two goaltenders). The starting lineups for the Eastern and Western Division teams were announced earlier. Online fan balloting comprised one-third of the selection of the starting lineups, with the league's general managers and media providing the other two-thirds.

The league, in collaboration with Eastern All-Stars Head Coach Paul Day (Rochester) and Western All-Stars Head Coach Chris Hall (Calgary), selected the reserves. Day and Hall earned the honors of coaching their respective All-Star teams by virtue of their teams' first-place positions, following the games of Week #7 of the regular season (February 11th to 13th).
