Coach Sanderson, Veltman and Doyle to Join Manning and Clark at All-Star Game
February 15, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
Toronto, ON â The Toronto Rock announced today that Jim Veltman and Colin Doyle have been selected to represent the Eastern Division at the 2005 All-Star Game. Rock Head Coach Terry Sanderson was also named as Assistant Coach for the Eastern Division team earlier this week. Sanderson, Veltman and Doyle will join Blaine Manning and Glenn Clark, who were named as starters last week.
The All-Star game will take place at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary on Saturday February 26, 2005 and will air via tape delay at 7:00pm on the Score Television Network.
This will be the first time that Terry Sanderson will serve as an Assistant Coach on the bench for an All-Star team. Sanderson has served as both a head coach and assistant coach with 5 NLL franchises since taking his first professional coaching job with the Ottawa Rebel in 2001.
Jim Veltman and Colin Doyle have both played with the Rock since the team's inception in 1999. Team Captain Jim Veltman, who missed the first 2 games of the season due to injury, is currently 6th overall in Rock point standings with 9 points on 1 goal (PPG) and 8 assists. He has scooped 50 looseballs and served 8 minutes in penalties. Doyle, named Assistant Captain in 2005, is currently 3rd overall in Rock point standings and 8th overall in the League. He has tallied 35 points on 12 goals (5 PPG) and 23 assists.
The East and West Division All-Star teams each consist of eighteen players (sixteen runners and two goaltenders). The starting lineups for the East and West Division teams were announced earlier. Online fan balloting comprised one-third of the selection of the starting lineups, with the league's general managers and media providing the other two-thirds.
