Two Arizona Sting Players Named To NLL All-Star Game

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting defensemen Peter Lough and Scott Self were named to the Western Division lineup as reserves for the NLL All-Star Game to be played in Calgary, Alberta on Feb. 26.

Lough, 30, has recorded 2 goals, 4 assists and 6 points in 7 games with the Sting this season. He ranks T-14th in the NLL in assists among defensemen and T-16th in points among defensemen. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder is Arizona's team captain and leads the team in faceoffs taken and loose balls. Last season, he was the co-winner of the NLL Sportsman-like Player of the Year (with Colorado's Gary Gait).

Self has collected 2 goals, 9 assists and 11 points in 7 games with Arizona this season. He currently ranks 2nd in the entire NLL in assists among defensemen and tied for 3rd in points among NLL defensemen. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Self leads all Sting defensemen in assists and points.

Lough and Self will join Sting teammate Dan Dawson, who was named as a starter to the West Division All-Stars last week, at the NLL All-Star Game. It will be the first NLL All-Star appearances for all three Sting players.

The NLL All-Star Game will be played at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary on Saturday, Feb. 26. The game will be broadcast live on NBC (KPNX Ch. 12) at 12:00 noon Arizona time.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The Sting will play 16 regular season games in 2005 including 8 home games at Glendale Arena. All 8 of the Sting home lacrosse games at Glendale Arena will be on weekends, with six coming on Friday evenings and two on Saturday evenings.
