
Two Eighth-Inning Runs Propel Frisco to Victory in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trailing 4-3, the Frisco RoughRiders scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning and brought in another tally in the ninth to win 6-4 over the San Antonio Missions in the first game of the series from Nelson W. Wolff Stadium.
The Frisco (3-1) eighth-inning scoring started when Dio Arias plated a run by reaching on an error, allowing Blaine Crim to score, tying the game at 4-4. Jonathan Ornelas then ripped his third hit of the night, an RBI single to centerfield, bringing in Dustin Harris and the Riders took the lead.
In the ninth, the RoughRiders added on when Crim lifted a sacrifice fly to push the advantage to 6-4.
Chase Lee came on in the bottom of the eighth and completed the six-out save, his second of the season, only allowing two base runners.
Grant Wolfram (1-0) earned the win, ceding just one run over his three innings, while Ryan Lillie was saddled with the loss for the Missions (2-2).
In the first inning, the RoughRiders started the scoring on a Crim RBI double to make it 1-0. Crim has now hit safely in each of the Riders first four games.
After the Missions countered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, Matt Whatley recorded an RBI groundout in the second, bringing in Arias, to tie the game at 2-2.
The two teams then traded runs when San Antonio scored in the second before Ornelas had his first of two RBI singles in the fourth to tie the game again, this time at 3-3.
The Missions took a 4-3 advantage in the fifth on a sacrifice fly before the Riders made their comeback.
The RoughRiders continue their opening road trip of the season against the San Antonio Missions on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:05 p.m. Riders LHP Avery Weems (0-0, 27.00) is slated to make his first start on the mound on Wednesday against RHP Dwayne Matos (0-0, -.--) for San Antonio.
