Tulsa Oilers News Release
Weekend Recap: The Oilers continued their recent mastery over Wichita with a pair of wins in the home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday. Tulsa has now won four straight games and three in a row over the rival Thunder. With Friday's game tied at four in the third period, Jeff Terminesi scored his second goal of the year on a 2-man advantage to put the Oilers on top for good. Saturday, the Oilers orchestrated one of their best defensive performances of the season and left Wichita with a 4-1 win. Tulsa passed Wichita in the standings and now sits in second place in the Berry Conference with 17 points.
Milestone for "Bobo": With three assists on Friday night, Oilers forward Michel Beausoleil earned his 600th professional point. In an 11 year career spanning nine teams and five leagues, Beausoleil's consistency has been remarkable. The 31-year old is averaging nearly a point per game and shows no signs of slowing down. He has eight assists in the last four games and leads the Oilers with 16 total points.
Tulsa Trio Sparking Offense: Oilers head coach Bruce Ramsay has found a lethal combination in the forward line of Gary Steffes, David Solway, and Michel Beausoleil. In the last three games, all against Wichita, that line has racked up 15 points. Steffes has been lights out in the face-off circle and leads the Oilers with 42 shots on goal. Despite playing in only eight games, Solway already has ten points and a +3 rating while Beausoleil is tied for the team lead with 11 assists.
Potent Powerplay: Tulsa's powerplay was on ice for a few games, but it's a unit that has found its groove once again. After going 1-for-29, the Oilers powerplay is 6-for-16 over the last three games. The play of top defenseman Sean Erickson and Jeff Terminesi is a big reason why the Oilers are finding success with the man advantage. Erickson leads the squad with three powerplay goals, while Terminesi has seven powerplay assists and is tied for the league lead in that category.
We're Going Streaking: The current 4-game win streak is Tulsa's longest of the season. In this stretch, the Oilers are +9 in goal differential (19-10) and have outshot their opponent in three of the four games. Ian Keserich has started in goal for each win and has made 109 saves on 119 shots. David Solway is the Oilers points leader over this stretch with three goals and six assists.
Upcoming Games: It's a busy holiday week for the Oilers as they play four games in five days.
