Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees finished the nine-game homestand last week with a 7-2-0 record after finishing with a two-game sweep of the Laredo Bucks. This week the Bees will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in Arizona taking on the Sundogs on Friday and Saturday night.

The Sundogs went 2-1-0 against the Texas Brahmas in a three-game set at the Tim's Toyota Center last week. The Bees are 2-0-0 against Arizona this season with victories on November 11th and 12th.

LAST WEEKS GAMES

Tuesday vs Allen Americans, Loss 5-2

A stingy defense and some decent goaltending snapped the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (5-5-0) two-game win streak. The Allen Americans (6-2-2) goaltender Marco Cousineau made 41 saves in a 4-2 loss Tuesday night at the State Farm Arena.

Wednesday vs Allen Americans, Win 4-3 OT

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (6-5-0) were able to secure a comeback win against the Allen Americans (6-3-2) on Wednesday night with a final score of 4-3 in overtime. AJ Mikkelsen scored the game winning goal with 44.2 seconds left in the extra frame.

Friday vs Laredo Bucks, Win 6-2

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (7-5-0) defeated the Laredo Bucks (3-7-0) by a 6-2 final on Friday night. Aaron Lee added to his high scoring season with a pair of goals in the second period. Lee leads the Central Hockey League and the Killer Bees in goals. Aiding in the triumph for the Bees was Jake Hauswirth with two goals as well as Tomas Klempa, and Zac Pearson with strikes.

Saturday vs Laredo Bucks, Win 5-2

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (8-5-0) took another win over the Laredo Bucks (3-8-0) on Saturday night by a 5-2 score. Aaron Lee added two more goals to his league leading total in the win.

The win capped a marvelous homestand as the Bees went 7-2-0 over their nine game stay at the Hive. The victory also put them in an early lead in the season series with the Laredo Bucks. The Bees are currently 3-1-0 over their rival.

BEES NEED TO KNOW

. The Killer Bees finished a nine-game homestand in the month of November with a 7-2-0 record. The homestand went from Nov. 4 through Nov. 19.

. The Killer Bees went to extra time for the first time of the season on November 11th against the Arizona Sundogs. The first seven games of the Bees season were all decided in regulation.

. Mark Kroeze was signed by the Bees on November 5 to serve as an emergency back-up goalie after an injury to Dan Dunn. Kroeze is a Minnesota native who is also is the first-ever McAllen City Urban Forester.

. The Killer Bees have now won their first game of the season over the Laredo Bucks in the last two seasons. Last year the Bees opened the season with a victory over Laredo and this season the Bees defeated Laredo 6-3 last Saturday night for their first win of the year.
