Trio Help Rockies End Losing Skid

On the mound, Javier Palacios allowed a run in seven innings, while at the plate, Randy Reyes and Yonathan Daza combined for nine hits in nine at bats with a walk as the Grand Junction Rockies ended their season-long four game losing streak with a 9-1 win over the Ogden Raptors.

Palacios earned the win scattering four hits without a walk. The only blemish against him was an Ivan Vela home run in the fifth inning.

Reyes was a triple shy of the cycle and scored four runs. Daza had the Rockies first five hit game of the season, and he drove home three runs..

Grand Junction struck first with an unearned run in the second inning, and Reyes made it 2-0 when he homered in the fourth. After Vela's homer, the Rockies got the lead back to two runs when Dom Nunez singled home Terry McClure. They added a pair of unearned runs in the sixth to stretch the lead to 5-1, and they added a pair in the seventh and eighth to get the lead to eight.

The win increases the Rockies lead in the South Division to 1.5 games over Ogden with 10 to play. The teams will meet the next five nights, including Tuesday night at Suplizio Field. First pitch will be at 7:05.
