INDIANAPOLIS -- Tribe MVP Brandon Moss drove in two runs to move into a first place tie in the International League with 95 RBI on the season, while Starting Pitcher of the Year Jeremy Powell held the Bats to one unearned run in six strong innings of work as the Indianapolis Indians earned a 4-1 win in front of a sell-out crowd of 14,590 in the 2010 home finale on Saturday night at Victory Field.

With the victory, Indianapolis improves its record to 70-72 on the season, while the loss drops Louisville's record to 78-63 on the year. The victory also closes out the Tribe's home record at 36-36 to help Indianapolis avoid it's first losing record at Victory Field since 2003, when they posted a 35-37 record.

Moss, who was named the Indians' Most Valuable Player prior to the contest, started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when he lined his second triple of the season out to deep left center field. The two-out, three-bagger plated LF Kevin Melillo, who opened the inning with a double, and gave the Tribe an early 1-0 advantage.

Indianapolis upped its advantage to 2-0 in the home half of the fourth inning when 2B Brian Friday lined his 19th double of the season out to left field. The two-bagger plated Moss from second base after the outfielder walked to open the inning.

Moss was again involved in the game's scoring in the bottom of the fifth when the outfielder extended Indianapolis' lead to 3-0 when he lifted a sacrifice to center field. The sac-fly, which was only Moss' third run-scoring, sacrifice hit of the season, drove home the Georgia native's second RBI of the game and moved him into a tie with former Durham Bulls' and current Tampa Bay Rays' INF Dan Johnson for the IL lead in RBI with 95.

Louisville scratched across its lone run of the contest with a single score in the top of sixth inning on a force attempt, throwing error by the Indians' infield. With a runner standing at first with one out in the frame, back-to-back miscues, including a run-scoring throwing error on a routine ground ball by 1B Todd Frazier cut the Tribe's lead to 3-1.

The Indians capped the scoring in the contest in the sixth as they regained their three-run advantage at 4-1. After SS Pedro Ciriaco doubled to left field with one out in the inning and moved to third one batter later on a ground out, Friday drove home his second RBI of the contest with a run-scoring base knock to left.

Powell (6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 SO), who was awarded the Indians' Starting Pitcher of the Year award prior to the start of the contest, earned the victory after he held the Bats to just one unearned run on six hits in six innings of work. With the victory, Powell finishes the 2010 campaign with 11 wins on the season, a mark which ranks one win shy of his professional baseball career high of 12 wins, set in 1996 when he pitched for the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds.

Out of the Tribe bullpen, relievers Justin Thomas (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 SO) and Steven Jackson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 SO) earned their 11th and 10th holds of the season to pave the way for closer Jean Machi (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 SO) in the ninth. Machi - the Henry Smock Relief Pitcher of the Year - then went on and worked around a two-out double to earn his 22nd save of the season.

Louisville starter Matt Klinker (5.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) was strapped with his fourth loss of the season after he allowed four runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings of work. Bats' relievers Enerio Del Rosario (1.1 IP, 2 H) and Joe Krebs (1.1 IP, 2 H) combined to hold the Tribe scoreless over the contest's final 2.2 innings of work.

At the plate, two Tribe batters - Moss (1-for-2, 1 R, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 BB) and Friday (2-for-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB) - collected two RBI in the contest, while both CF Dave Sappelt (3-for-4, 1 2B) and 2B Kris Negron (2-for-4, 1 2B) tallied multiple base knocks in the contest.

Indianapolis now heads to Louisville for its final road trip of the 2010 campaign with two contests against the Bats beginning on Sunday, September 5 at 6 p.m. RHP Chris Jakubauskas is expected to get the start for the Tribe, while LHP Jeremy Horst is the probable starter for the Bats.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show begins at 5:40 p.m.
