Knights Finishing Strong with 9-2 Win Over Braves

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights started off their last home stand of the season with a dominating 9-2 win over the Gwinnett Braves. The game was played in front of 9,321 fans.
Gwinnett starting pitcher Scott Diamond had not lost a game for the Braves this season and entered the start having already gone 1-0 vs. Charlotte. In this game the Knights were able to get to Diamond early. Charlotte loaded the bases in the first inning before a 3-RBI triple from outfielder Jeremy Reed that put the Knights ahead 3-0. Reed had four RBI in the game.
Two innings later the Knights put up another three spot with two runs coming from a two-run home run from Dayan Viciedo. The home run was Viciedo's 20th of the season and he joins teammate Stefan Gartrell as the only Knights players to hit 20 homers this season. It is the first time since 2005 that the Knights have had two players with 20 home run seasons.
Charlotte starting pitcher Kyle McCulloch won his second straight game improving to 3-4 on the season and Matt Zaleski earned his first save of the year.
The Knights and Braves continue the final series of the season with a special Sunday night game beginning at 7:15 PM tomorrow at Knights Stadium. The Braves will start LHP Jose Ortegano (3-10, 6.12 ERA) and the Knights will counter with RHP Freddy Dolsi (2-7, 5.15 ERA).
