Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox took a 1-0 lead early on Saturday night but it didn't stand up against the playoff-bound Yankees, as Scranton completed a two game sweep with a 6-1 win in Moosic, Pa. David Phelps handcuffed the Sox for eight innings, scattering 5 hits and striking out 5 hitters. Phelps improves to 4-2. The Yankees take the season series 9-7. Pawtucket completes its' road schedule with a mark of 28-44.
The Yankees won their 86th game against just 55 defeats. Mark Wagner had 2 hits for the PawSox. Josh Reddick had his 12 game hitting streak snapped and Lars Anderson had his streak ended at 10 games.
The Sox return to McCoy for the final 2 games of the season against Syracuse. Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek is scheduled to appear in a rehab assignment in those outings. Sundays' game begins at 6:05 p.m. Fabio Castro (7-9, 4.96) faces Shairon Martis (8-7, 4.04).
