Tri-City Americans News Release

KENNEWICK, WA - In a match-up that featured two hockey teams looking for answers...both Taylor Procyshen and Mitch Fadden raised their hands with replies.

Procyshen tied the game with 3:38 remaining in regulation and Fadden netted the game-winner in overtime, as the Tri-City Americans (33-14-0-3, 69 pts) rallied to beat the visiting Everett Silvertips (21-21-6-1, 49 pts) 4-3 in front of 5,223 fans at Toyota Center. With the win, the Americans improved to 5-1-0-1 against the 'Tips this season and 20-3-0-1 at home. The win also pushed Tri-City six-points ahead of the idle Spokane Chiefs in the race for first-place in the U.S. Division standings. Meanwhile, Everett fell to 0-4 at the Toyota Center this season and has now lost their last six games.

After playing to a scoreless tie through the first 20 minutes, the teams were able to open it up in the second period.

In the first 5:08 of the period, the 'Tips jumped out to a 2-0 lead. While on the power play, Zack Dailey tipped in a Graham Potuer shot, putting the 'Tips on the board. Then, also while on the power play, rookie Alex Theriau netted his first WHL goal from just inside the blue line.

But, late into the period, Tri-City answered, as they countered with two quick strikes of their own. The first came with 3:31 remaining and on the power play, as Fadden connected for his first of two goals on the night. Then, just 36 seconds later, Procyshen netted his first of the night, tying the game at 2.

Still tied at 2 and with 12:11 remaining in regulation, the 'Tips retook the lead off the stick of Shane Harper.

However, with 3:38 remaining in regulation, Procyshen electrified the building with his second goal of the night and 28th of the year. Despite some close calls down the stretch, the game headed into overtime.

Once there, Tri-City took control.

Just over a minute into the overtime, Fadden took a Tyler Schmidt pass and maneuvered the puck around an Everett defenseman, then got goaltender Kent Simpson to commit to the ice. Once Simpson hit the ice, Fadden collected the puck and tucked it into the net at the near post. It was Fadden's 19th goal of the season and 10th in his last 13 games.

Simpson finished the night with 25 saves in the loss, while Chet Pickard stopped 24 of the 27 shots he saw to collect the win. The Americans went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Everett was 2-for-5 on the man-advantage.

After going 2-1 in their triple-header weekend, Tri-City will now prepare for another critical part of their schedule. Up first is a match-up with the Portland Winter Hawks on Wednesday, January 28 at Toyota Center. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Americans are 2-2 against the 'Hawks this season, but have won their last two contests against their division rivals. Two of the four contests have been decided by just one goal, with each team splitting the one-goal games. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer locations, or online at ticketmaster.com. Those unable to make it to the game can catch all the action live on NewsTalk 870 AM, starting with the Sterling Savings Bank Warm-up Show at 6:45 p.m.
