KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory would like to congratulate three Americans prospects who have been selected to represent their respective provinces in the 2012 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup, which will take place November 1-4, 2012 at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alberta.
2012 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup Participants:

The Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup will feature the highest rated players in the Under 16 age category representing the four Western Provinces of Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The four team round robin tournament format is the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence and assists the four Western Provincial Hockey Associations in evaluating these top prospects in this age group for future high performance programs.
In the inaugural 2009 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup, former Americans' defenseman Riley Guenther and Team Alberta topped Chris Driedger, Justin Hamonic and the rest of Team Manitoba 6-4 to take home the gold medal. Meanwhile, Connor Rankin and Team British Columbia fell 4-2 to Team Saskatchewan in the bronze medal game. Last season, Team Alberta repeated as Cup Champions with a 10-4 win over Team Manitoba. Then, Americans' prospect Justin Marreck and Team B.C. exacted revenge on Team Saskatchewan, taking the bronze with a 5-4 win.
