Three Raiders Prospects to Participate in U-16 Challenge

Prince Albert SK - Three Prince Albert Raiders prospects will be representing their provinces at the upcoming 2012 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup.

The Raiders 3rd overall selection in the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, defenceman Brendan Guhle, headlines the Team Alberta roster along with the Green and Gold's 3rd selection in the 2012 draft, 41st overall, centre Matteo Gennaro.

The Raiders will also be represented on Team Saskatchewan, with their 64th overall selection, defenceman Connor Hobbs, patrolling the blue line for his home province.

Last year, the Raiders have five prospects attend the U-16 Challenge including current Raiders Reid Gardiner and Tim Vanstone participating for Team Saskatchewan.

The 2012 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup will take place November 1 - 4, 2012 at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, Alberta and features the highest rated players in the Under 16 age category representing the four Western Provinces of Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The four team round robin tournament format is the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence and assists the four Western Provincial Hockey Associations in evaluating these top prospects in this age group for future high performance programs.
