Trenton Devils News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - For the second time five games, the Cincinnati Cyclones surrendered a goal in the first 15 seconds of a game and the result was a 4-1 win for the Trenton Devils. Trenton claimed its fifth straight win as Brad Snetsinger's two goals led the offensive for the Devils.

Trenton scored twice in the opening period, as Jim Henkel scored 13 seconds into the game-breaking in on the left side. It was Henkel's tenth goal of the year and the earliest into a game that the Cyclones have surrendered a goal in team history. Eric Castonguay had the assist. At 4:14, Brad Snetsinger picked up his fifth goal of the season, firing a shot from the left slot as Jeremy Akeson and Jeff Prough collected the assists. Trenton outshot Cincinnati, 9-8, in the period.

The Devils extended the lead to 3-0 when Snetsinger picked up his second of the night and sixth of the year at 8:00. Snetsinger snuck a shot from the left wing side from Akeson and Matt Cohen to tally the score that chased Cyclones starting netminder Kyle Gajewski to the showers. Ryan Nie, in his Cyclones debut, entered the fray and stopped the remaining four shots he faced in the period. Trenton outshot Cincinnati, 10-5, in the frame.

Trenton would extend the lead to 4-0 when Ryan Gunderson lit the lamp with his fourth goal at 6:48 on the power play from Castonguay and Henkel. The Cyclones would spoil the shutout bid at 8:32 when All-Star center Barret Ehgoetz tallied his twelfth score of the season on the power play from J.T. Wyman and T.J. McElroy. Shots in the third period favored Cincinnati, 8-2, and ended even for the contest at 21 apiece.

Gerald Coleman stopped 20 shots to take the victory for Trenton. For the ECHL's goals against average leader, it was his eleventh victory of the year. Kyle Gajewski took the loss, stopping eleven of the 14 shots he faced. Ryan Nie turned away six of seven in relief.

The Cyclones are now 16-15-5 on the season, while Trenton is 15-14-3. The Cyclones and Devils meet again Saturday night (7:30pm) at U.S. Bank Arena. It is John Morrell Hot Dog Night, with hot dogs priced at one dollar each.

NOTE: With the crowd of 4947, the Cyclones are averaging 20.2 percent more fans than 2007-08 through 18 home games. That is the fourth-largest improvement from last year through 18 games of any professional hockey team in North America (Tulsa-CHL is up 42.0%, Bridgeport-AHL is up 25.3% and Springfield-AHL is up 24.3%). Last year, Cincinnati's season attendance improved 36.8 percent over 2006-07-the biggest increase in all of professional hockey.
