Phoenix's Burke Suspended One Game, Fined

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that it has suspended Phoenix defenseman Matt Burke for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #389 against Stockton on Jan. 8.

Burke was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct under Rule 44.5 Checking from Behind at 13:34 of the third period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Burke will miss Phoenix's game at Bakersfield (Jan. 9).
