
Trenton notches second straight win

(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton Outfielder Colin Curtis had the go-ahead three-run triple in the seventh inning, and the Thunder went on for a 9-4 win over Binghamton on Saturday night from Waterfront Park. Trenton's six-run seventh inning ties a season-high for runs in an inning. The Thunder had its biggest crowd of the season at Waterfront Park (6,617).
With the game tied 2-2 in the seventh inning, Trenton (13-13) loaded the bases against Binghamton Reliever Edgar Alfonso (1-1) with no outs. Curtis followed with a bases-clearing triple to give the Thunder a 5-2 lead. First Baseman Jorge Vazquez followed with an RBI single to make it 6-2. All four batters that Alfonso faced reach base. Later in the frame, Catcher Kyle Anson singled home a run to increase the lead to 7-2. The final run of the inning scored on an RBI ground out by Outfielder James Cooper. Trenton brought 10 batters to the plate in the seventh inning. Curtis tacked on an RBI single in the eighth inning for his fourth RBI of the night.
Trenton took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Right fielder James Cooper delivered an RBI single to put Trenton on top. Binghamton Center fielder Emmanuel Garcia threw out Kyle Anson at the plate to prevent a second run from scoring on Cooper's base hit. In the first inning, Garcia threw out Colin Curtis at the plate on a base hit by First base Jorge Vazquez. Binghamton tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Left Fielder D.J. Wabick.
Trenton Outfielder Seth Fortenberry scored three runs and stole two bases for the Thunder. Curtis had three hits and Cooper also collected two RBI. Trenton had a season-high 14 hits. Trenton Reliever Kanekoa Texeira (3-2) tossed 2 2/3 innings in relief for the win. Trenton Starting Pitcher Zach McAllister received a no-decision. He yielded six hits and two runs in 5 2/3 innings. Binghamton Starting Pitcher Jose Sanchez also received a no-decision. He scattered six hits and two runs over six innings.
Trenton and Binghamton will face-off in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. LHP Wilkins Arias (0-1, 2.51) is scheduled to start for Trenton against Binghamton RHP Ryan Coultas (2-1, 2.60). Game time is slated for 1:05 p.m.
