New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Eagle-Tribune newspaper today announced a partnership to support the South Lawrence East Little League with a fundraiser on Friday, May 22, when the Fisher Cats host the Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
The Eagle-Tribune is providing free tickets to all the league's players for that night's game. In addition, the Fisher Cats will donate 50% of proceeds to the South Lawrence East Little League from tickets purchased either on the league's website, www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=southlawrence, or through a special voucher that can be acquired directly from the league. There will be a pre-game parade prior to the Fisher Cats/Thunder 7:05pm game that night to recognize the kids from South Lawrence East, whose little league season was placed in jeopardy last month when $1,500 worth of baseballs, bats, helmets and other baseball gear was stolen from the league's locked storage area.
"When you hear of a situation like this, the first thing you ask is 'what can we do to help?'" said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "Thanks to our partnership with the Eagle-Tribune, the answer is to give these kids and their families a respite from the terrible theft that nearly cost these players a chance to play baseball this year. Fortunately, the community has rallied around South Lawrence East through the generosity of so many people, and we are excited to give them a fun night and help them raise some funds on Friday, May 22nd."
"We want to thank the Fisher Cats and the Eagle-Tribune for giving the kids from our league a break from everything else that's happened, allowing them to see a game of this caliber," said South Lawrence East Little League President George Herman.
To find out how else to donate to the league, call Greg Morris at (978) 726-7334 or email slebaseball@comcast.net.
The Fisher Cats take on the Connecticut Defenders at 1:05pm this afternoon, May 9, at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, and the first 1,000 children will receive free NAPA Auto Parts Fisher Cats Jersey Bags. On Sunday, May 10, all Moms are free on Mother's Day, courtesy of Catholic Medical Center, and the first 1,000 moms will receive free Catholic Medical Center Pink Totes. Tickets are available in person at the Ticket Office beginning at 9:30am and online at www.nhfishercats.com.
