
Emaus goes 3-for-4 with HR; Fisher Cats falls 4-2 Saturday to Connecticut

Manchester, NH- For the second consecutive game, Brad Emaus (3-for-4, HR, RBI) homered in the first inning, but Connecticut rallied for a 4-2 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats before 4,555 Saturday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Emaus' solo home run, his fourth of the season, off Connecticut starter and winning pitcher Henry Sosa (2-0) gave New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.
The Fisher Cats (17-12) added a run in the bottom of the second inning. Adam Calderone led off with a single, Al Quintana (2-for-4) singled but was erased on a double play. Sean Shoffit singled home Calderone to make it 2-0.
The Defenders (13-15) cut the lead to 2-1 with an unearned run in the top of the third inning. Andy D'Alessio doubled, moved to third on a ground out and scored when Brandon Crawford's grounder was misplayed by Luis Sanchez.
Connecticut moved in front for good with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Brett Pill reached on an error, Mike Mooney singled and Sharlon Schoop (1-for-3, 2 RBI) doubled home both men to make it 3-2. After Jackson Williams was hit by a pitch, Brock Bond's single scored Schoop to put the Defenders in front 4-2.
Marc Rzepczynski (5-2) saw his personal four-game win streak come to an end. New Hampshire's starter allowing four runs, two earned, in 5.1 IP. He allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out five to improve his Eastern-League leading total to 46.
Sosa allowed seven hits and two runs for the Defenders, walking three and striking out three.
Relievers Ben Snyder and Dan Otero combined to pitch four innings of scoreless relief. Otero got the final four outs to earn his seventh save.
New Hampshire relievers Bubbie Buzachero and Edgar Estanga also pitched well. Buzachero allowed just one hit, a single, in 3.1 scoreless innings of work. He struck out two. Estanga struck out the only batter he faced, Connecticut shortstop Brandon Crawford.
New Hampshire and Connecticut play the final game of their three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm when Fisher Cats' left-hander Nate Starner (0-0, 4.35) faces Defenders' right-hander Tim Alderson, who will be making his Eastern League debut.
