Aerodynamics...

Home Sweet Home...The Aeros returned to Canal Park last night after a week-long road trip low-lighted by four consecutive rainouts, and defeated Harrisburg by a final score of 6-4. Five Aeros hitters had multi-hit games as Akron jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after three innings and never looked back en route to their 20th victory of the year. The Aeros are the first team at the Double-A level to reach the 20-win plateau this season, and their .800 winning percentage is the second-highest in all of minor league baseball, trailing only the Class AAA Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees (23-5, .821 winning percentage).

The Lead-Off Spark...CF Jose Constanza set an Aeros season-high with four hits in a game last night to extend his current hitting streak to seven games. He is also hitting .423 (22-52) in his last 13 games, with 10 runs scored and six walks against just four strikeouts. He leads the team with nine multi-hit efforts (six in his last 13 contests), leads the entire Eastern League with 11 stolen bases, and ranks second in the league with a .366 batting average, trailing only Altoona's Jim Negrych.

And We Meet Again...Starter Josh Tomlin picked up his second quality start of the year last night, leading the Aeros with six efficient innings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out five. It was a nice recovery from his last start when he gave up a season-high 12 hits in only 4.1 innings of work against these very same Senators back on April 29th. Tomlin improved to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to 4.44 on the year, and is second on the staff in both innings (26.1) and strikeouts (19).

It's a Slugging Party...In the first 12 games of the season the Aeros had a .210 team batting average, yet opened the year 10-2 (.833 winning percentage). In their last 13 contests though, the bats have woken up to the tune of a .299 team mark yet the club actually has a lower winning percentage at .770 from a 10-3 record. The Aeros also tied a season-high with 14 hits last night (a feat they have accomplished three times already this year) with all three instances coming against the Senators.

Rookie of the Day...Jeanmar Gomez will take the mound tonight in his second outing as an Aero. His first start came on April 30th against Harrisburg when he worked 5.0 innings and allowed one run on two hits while notching five strikeouts. In four starts earlier this season with Class A Kinston prior to his promotion, the 21-year-old native of Venezuela was 2-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 24.0 innings pitched, and was holding opposing batters to a .202 batting average against.

You Look Good, You Feel Good...The Aeros will be sporting camouflage jerseys tonight in honor of the first United States Army game of the season. The Aeros salute the men and women in uniform and will be wearing these special jerseys at select home games throughout the season. Please note that C Armando Camacaro will wear #48 this evening with the alternate jersey while RHP Zach Putnam will don #37.
