Travs Skid Continues, Fall 7-2 Thursday

Tulsa, OK - The Arkansas Travelers lost their seventh game of their last eight after falling 7-2 to the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday night at ONEOK Field.

For the first time in 11 games, the Travs scored first, but after trailing 1-0 in the third, Tulsa scored each of the next six runs to take a 6-1 lead through seven.

Arkansas' starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits for a second consecutive day. On Thursday, RHP Tyler Carpenter (L, 0-2) surrendered four runs on 10 hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Travs faced a former Major Leaguer for the second time in three games. After seeing LHP Mike Minor on Tuesday, RHP Carlos Frias got his first start of the season and worked three innings. The righty allowed a run on one hit with no walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Logan Bawcom (W, 1-0) worked three scoreless innings following Frias to earn the victory.

DH Stephen McGee finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored for Arkansas and RF Jabari Henry went 2-for-4.

With the Drillers leading 4-1 in the seventh, 3B Paul Hoenecke launched a two-out two-run home run to increase the lead to 6-1.

Both teams committed two errors in the game.

With the loss, Arkansas remains in last place in the Texas League North and fell to 13-21 on the season.

The two teams will play game three of the four-game series on Friday night at ONEOK Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
