Arkansas Travelers News Release

Whataburger Field, Corpus Christi, Texas - RHP Felipe Paulino (6-7) dominated over seven innings while the Corpus Christi Hooks (27-23, 58-62) used a six-run rally to earn a 7-3 victory over the Arkansas Travelers (25-25, 56-64). Paulino won his third straight start and second in a row against the Travs allowing just one run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven. The Hooks sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and collected five base hits, the biggest being a three-run double by Drew Sutton and a two-run double by Francisco Caraballo. RHP Nick Adenhart (8-7) lost his fourth straight game for the Travs and was knocked from the game with just 4.1 innings pitched. Adenhart allowed six runs on five hits and a season-high six walks along with three strikeouts. Travs LF Coby Smith saw his on-base streak snap at 25 games with an 0-for-5. The Travs are now 1-9 against the Hooks and have dropped ten of 15 games. Thanks to losses by Springfield and Tulsa, the Travs remain one game out of first place and 3.5 games out of the wildcard.

Adenhart was the stronger pitcher over the first four innings allowing just four baserunners while whiffing three. The Travs left runners on base in scoring position in three of the first four innings.

The critical fifth inning for the Hooks began with singles through the shortstop hole from Caraballo and Lou Santangelo. After a successful sacrifice bunt, Adenhart walked Josh Flores to load the bases for Sutton. On a 2-0 count, he smacked a ball to the left-center warning track bringing home three runs. Tommy Manzella followed with a single to move Sutton to third base, then a double steal brought in Sutton for a 4-0 Hooks lead. Adenhart left the game after walking Todd Self and Michael Johnson to load the bases again. RHP Von Stertzbach came on and allowed Caraballo's two-run double into the right-field corner to cap the inning.

The only time the Travs broke through came in the sixth inning when Freddy Sandoval doubled and scored on a two-out single from Matt Pali.

Corpus Christi LF Ray Sadler (20) took RHP David Austen deep in the seventh inning giving the Hooks a 7-1 lead. Arkansas got two unearned runs against RHP Sammy Gervacio in the ninth inning.

The time of game was 2:46 and the paid attendance was 6,773.

The Travs and Hooks are scheduled to play Thursday night at Whataburger field. The Travs have RHP Miguel Gonzalez (7-3, 2.84 ERA) going against Hooks' LHP Brian Bogusevic (0-0, 9.95 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
