North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers fell 6-4 to the Springfield Cardinals on Saturday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
After trailing 4-0 and 5-2, the Travs cut the deficit to 5-4 through eight innings, but Springfield added an insurance run in the ninth and Arkansas was not able to counter.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning when 3B Paul DeJong blasted an opposite field, two-out, three-run home run to right-center on an 0-2 pitch.
Springfield scored each of its first five runs on three longballs, the latter two were solo shots from CF Harrison Bader in the third and 1B Luke Voit in the eighth.
Arkansas LF Jabari Henry launched his first home run of the season in the sixth to make it a 4-1 game, and the Travs added one in the seventh and two in the eighth to make it close.

Travs 3B Andrew Daniel reached base in all four plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, run, walk and hit-by-pitch.
Arkansas CF Bo Way went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple, a walk and a run scored.
After RHP Troy Scribner allowed four runs over 3.1 innings, RHP Austin Adams held Springfield off the board over 2.2 frames. LHP Tyler DeLoach then retired each of the four batters he faced to lower his season ERA to 1.85 and keep the Cards at four runs. RHP Geoff Broussard allowed two runs over his 1.2 innings of work.
RHP Mike Mayers, who returned from Triple-A Memphis, earned the victory with 5.2 innings of work. The righty allowed one run on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
Arkansas finished 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
With the loss, the Travs' four-game winning streak was snapped and they fell to 17-25 on the season. With the four-game series knotted at 1-1, the Travs and Cardinals will play game three on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park.
