Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, dropped game one of a four-game series against the San Antonio Missions, 5-4, in front of a crowd of 10,851 at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
San Antonio (13-27) did all of its damage in the top of the sixth. Former RoughRider Mike Olt tied the game 3-3 with a two-out, three-run home run against starter Sam Wolff. Right-hander Jose Valdespina (1-1) took over in relief and allowed the decisive blow on a two-run double from Gabriel Quintana that put the Missions ahead, 5-3.
Although the Riders (27-13) got back within a run on an RBI single from Alberto Triunfel in the bottom of the sixth, they would go on to lose by the 5-4 score.
The sixth inning overturned an early lead for Frisco. The Riders took an early lead against Missions starter Kyle Lloyd. After a two-run first inning, Preston Beck launched a solo home run into the Choctaw Lazy River in the third, his third home run of the season, to make it 3-0.
The series against the Missions continues Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Newly-promoted left-hander Yohander Mendez (---, -.-- ERA) will make his Double-A debut for The RoughRiders, working against righty Bryce Morrow (0-5, 7.00 ERA). Fans can watch the action live on MiLB.TV, and live audio can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App.
Saturday is Military Appreciation Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a free camouflage Riders t-shirt presented by ABC Pest and Lawn, and the team will don specialty camo jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans, with proceeds benefitting the USO DFW through the RoughRiders Foundation.
