Springfield Cardinals News Release

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Springfield Cardinals (21-21, 51-61) plated one run in the ninth and nearly tied it, but the Arkansas Travelers (23-19, 66-44) hung on for a 3-2 win on Sunday evening.

W: LHP Ricardo Sanchez (2-3)

L: RHP Tommy Parsons (4-3)

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:

-Arkansas dealt the first blow for the 2-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run double from CF Dom Thompson-Williams, plating C Cal Raleigh and LF Luis Liberato, both of whom had walked.

-The Cardinals attempted a comeback in the top of the ninth, which started with a single from Capel and a walk by Ascanio. One out later, 2B Irving Lopez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. RHP Art Warren took over to face 3B Yariel Gonzalez, who bounced into an RBI fielder's choice that scored Capel from third and put runners at the corners with two away. C Brian O'Keefe lasered a line drive to right-center field that would have tied the game, but CF Dom Thompson-Williams flew over with a diving catch for the final out, stranding the tying run at third and closing the 3-2 win for Arkansas.
