
Traverse City Sweeps Washington

Traverse City, MI - The Washington Wild Things fell to the Traverse City Beach Bum 2-1 Thursday night at Wuerfel Park. The victory secured a playoff spot for the Beach Bums.
Starting pitchers Jon Klein and Ian MacDougall dueled for six innings. Klein, who suffered the loss for Washington, turned in an impressive performance, striking out six batters and intentionally walking one in 6.2 innings of work.
Andrew Heck, who doubled twice during the contest, scored on a Matt Ford RBI single in the first inning.
In the fourth inning, Brandon Jacobs doubled and plated two to give Traverse City the lead.
The Wild Things return to CONSOL Energy Park Friday when they will host the Evansville Otters for a weekend series. RHP Ernie Zaragoza is scheduled to start for Washington Friday. Tickets for all three games (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) are available at the box office.
