
Brett Marshall Is Masterful in Otters Sweep of Greys

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -The Evansville Otters (46-41) swept the Frontier Greys (39-48) with a 4-1 victory on Thursday night.
Pitcher Brett Marshall (5-1) took a shutout into the final frame, pitching 8.2 innings of one run baseball for the win.
Both teams played to a scoreless tie over the first four innings.
Evansville broke the 0-0 game open with two runs in the fifth including an RBI double from first baseman Nik Blog and a run producing fielder's choice by infielder Alex Cruz.
Up 2-0, Balog added to the lead with a two-run home run in the seventh.
Marshall retired 14 hitters in a row entering the final inning, before allowing a leadoff home run. After back to back outs and a pair of base runners reaching, closer Edgar Lopez entered the contest to record the final out.
Striking out nine hitters, Marshall secured his fourth straight win.Lopez added to his single season franchise saves record with his 24th of the summer.
Balog ended the night, 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run and three runs batted in.
Infielder Josh Allen also set the Otters single season hit by pitch record with his 19th of the year.
Fellow infielder Cory Urquhart also tallied two hits in the game.
Evansville begins a week-long roadtrip to Washington and Normal on Friday, Aug. 28 before starting the final regular season series at home against River City on Friday, Sept. 4.
