Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Naturals dropped the middle-game of the three-game series to the Arkansas Travelers on Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park by a final of 6-1 Northwest Arkansas (45-66/14-29) fall to 1-5 on the current road trip while having dropped three straight games.
Blake Perkins led the offense with a pair of hits including a run-scoring triple to put the Naturals on the board in the eighth inning. His three-bagger plated Jordan George from first base and gave the Naturals 32 triples on the season.
The Travelers pitching held the Naturals to just six hits with Perkins accounting for two of them. Dairon Blanco singled to lead-off the game and has now hit safely in six of his last seven games. D.J. Burt singled in the fourth inning, stole second and third base to put his stolen base total at 23 and give the Naturals' a Minor League-best 180 stolen bases total.
Starter, Dan Tillo (0-1, 3.27 ERA) faced the minimum through his first three innings with a pair of strikeouts; but struggled in the fourth inning. Arkansas capitalized on three hits, three walks and a passed ball in the frame to take a 3-0 lead. The home team added a fourth run in the fourth inning, following Tillo's departure.
Tillo went four-plus innings, allowed four runs on four hits with five walks and two strikeouts. Right-hander, Grant Gavin followed and allowed one hits and struck out five over two complete innings of work.
The Naturals look to salvage the finale on Wednesday night in the final game of the road trip. Right-hander, Scott Blewett will make his 2019 Naturals' debut since joining the club on August 1 from Triple-A, Omaha. Blewett went 5-8 with a 8.52 ERA in 18 games including 16 starts for the Storm Chasers. He'll match-up against Arkansas right-hander, Ljay Newsome (1-2, 2.87) who makes his fourth start for the Travelers.
