TRASHERS WEEK IN REVIEW
ADIRONDACK SQUEAKS BY DANBURY WITH A 2-1 WIN, TRASHERS WIN STREAK ENDS
February 27, 2005
Sly Cloutier's 3rd period goal from Steve O'Rourke proved to be the difference as the Adirondack Frostbite topped the Trashers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center before a crowd that included two busloads of Trashers fans.
A tightly-played game was finally opened up a little bit as Jeff Daw scored his 19th of the season on the power play with 15 seconds remaining in the first period on assists by Geno Parrish and Doug Christiansen.
However, the Frostbite would use their potent power-play to deadlock the game at 1-1 in the 2nd period as Corey Lucas banged in a rebound off a Steve O'Rourke shot for his 2nd goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1. The Trashers had several good scoring opportunites earlier in the period as Frank Bakrlik was given a five-minute major for boarding as he ran Alex Goupil into the boards, but the Trashers couldn't find their way by Kris Tebbs, who picked up his 13th win of the season for the Frostbite.
Adirondack scored the game-winning goal in the 3rd period on a 2-on-1 as O'Rourke found Cloutier in front of the Trashers net on a perfect pass to help him score his 22nd goal of the season.
Tebbs stopped 22 of 23 shots as the Frostbite increase their lead on Danbury to eight points in the Eastern Division while Stirling stopped 30 of 32. The Trashers finished 1-3 on the power-play while Adirondack was 1-8 with the man advantage.
