Flint posts 1-2-1 record last week

Week In Review - The Flint Generals posted a record of 1-2-1 in United Hockey League action last week. On Wednesday night, goaltender Dan McIntyre stopped all 47 shots en route to his second shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory at Fort Wayne. Bobby Reynolds (20) scored the game-winner. Jason Selleke (6), Rob Valicevic (28) and Andrei Lupandin (7) accounted for the Flint goals. It was on to Motor City on Friday night as the Generals dropped a 3-2 decision against the Mechanics. Bobby Kukulka (7) and Jim Duhart (27) scored for Flint. On Saturday night in Port Huron, the Generals earn an important point in the standings while losing 4-3 in a shootout to the Beacons at McMorran Arena. Reynolds (21), Kukulka (8) and Valicevic (29) scored for the Generals. Goaltender Dan McIntyre stopped 32 of 35 shots. On Sunday afternoon, Flint fell to defeat at the hands of the Fort Wayne Komets, 4-0 at Perani's Arena.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee - Right wing Mike Kinnie is our nominee for the Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week ending February 27, 2005. Kinnie posted four assists during the week including a three assist night in the 4-0 victory at Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Dan McIntyre is our nominee for the Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week ending February 27, 2005. McIntyre was the goaltender of record in all four games last week. McIntyre turned in an outstanding performance in the
4-0 victory at Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Month Nomination for February - Right wing Mike Kinnie is our nominee for the Sherwood/UHL Player of the Month for February. Kinnie had three goals and twelve assists for 15 points and was +8.

Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Month Nomination - Marco Emond is out nominee for the Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Month for February. Emond posted a record of 2-1-1. He appeared in five games in February stopping 140 of 149 shots.

Flint and Kalamazoo will meet for the sixth and final time in regular season play. Flint is 1-3-1 against the Wings this season. The leading scorers are center Yannick Carpentier (16g, 35a, 51 pts.) and right wing Kevin Kotyluk (21g, 23a, 44 pts.) Right wing Tyler Willis (25) leads the Wings in penalty minutes. Goaltenders Chad Alban (27-13-5) and Joel Martin (10-7-0) have been a solid last line of defense for the Wings. Last week, the Wings posted a record of 1-1-1. Kalamazoo lost to the visiting Motor City Mechanics 5-2 last Wednesday and dropped a 4-3 shootout over the Kansas City Outlaws on Friday. The Wings' lone victory was at Fort Wayne with a 4-2 victory over the Komets. Kalamazoo hosts the Muskegon Fury on Friday and the Quad City Mallards on Saturday.

Friday night is the second of four meetings against the River Otters and the final match up between the two teams at Perani's Arena. Flint will travel to Missouri for two games as part of a Western road trip later this month. The leading scorers are center Lars Petterson (20g, 35a, 55 pts.) and former Adirondack Frostbite Frank Littlejohn (27g, 23a, 50 pts). Goaltenders Jason Tapp (18-16-3, 7 shutouts) and Kevin Reiter (16-6-3, 3 shutouts) have shared the duties between the pipes and have 10 shutouts between them. The River Otters posted a record of 1-2-1 last week. On Wednesday, Missouri earned a shootout point in a 3-2 loss against Kansas City. The weekend continued with a 5-1 loss at Rockford on Friday and a 5-4 loss at Muskegon on Saturday. The lone victory was a 6-5 shootout win at Motor City on Sunday. This weekend, Motor City will travel to Missouri on Saturday and Port Huron on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon is the seventh of nine regular season meetings against the Mechanics. Flint is 3-2-1 against Motor City this season. The leading scorers are center Blair Manning (15g, 36a, 51 pts.) and right wing Joe Burton (24g, 16a, 40 pts.) Brad Cruickshank (197) leads the Mechanics in penalty minutes. The Mechanics posted a record of 2-1-1 last week with victories over the Generals 3-2 on Friday and 5-2 at Kalamazoo on Wednesday. Motor City earned a shootout point in a 6-5 loss at home against Missouri on Sunday. The Mechanics dropped a 6-4 decision at Quad City on Saturday. This week, Motor City will host Quad City on Friday and Missouri on Saturday before heading to Flint for Sunday's game.

Record: (25-24-11, 61 pts.) Third Place, Central Division. Eighth Place Overall
Leading scorers: Bobby Reynolds, (21g, 53a, 74pts.), Rob Valicevic (29g, 39a, 68 pts.) and Mike Kinnie (28g, 31a, 59pts.) Penalty minutes leader is Kris Waltze (243). Kinnie leads all rookies in points (59), goals (28), power play goals (13) and shooting percentage (.194). Reynolds is currently tied for third in league scoring. Valicevic has five short-handed goals, second best in the UHL. General are currently fifth overall on the power play and ninth overall in penalty killing percentage.

Schedule Change - The Flint Generals have announced a schedule change for the "Morning Matinee". The game against the Muskegon Fury originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, 2005 has been changed. The new date is Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Perani's Arena.
