Trashers complete inaugural season, start playoffs

ANBURY, CT - After completing the final stretch of the regular season, the Danbury Trashers returned home in great anticipation of their opening round playoff series against the Adirondack Frostbite. The Trashers were 1-2-1 last week against the Michigan-only Central Division, but finished strong with a 5-0 shutout of Flint and a 7-6 shootout loss in Port Huron.

After 11 goals over their final two games, the Trashers are expecting additional firepower with the return of potent players in Michael Rupp and John Morlang. Danbury will host their first ever playoff game on April 20th at the Danbury Ice Arena after games on Friday and Saturday evening in Glens Falls, NY against the Frostbite.

The Trashers will host the Frostbite on Wednesday April 20th and Friday April 22nd with both games starting at 7:30pm. A complete listing of dates and times for the opening round of the Colonial Cup Playoffs are available at the bottom of the release.

TRASHERS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON WITH SHOOTOUT LOSS

PORT HURON, MI--A seesaw battle between the Danbury Trashers and the Port Huron Beacons ended with a 7-6 shootout win as the Beacons were led by a pair of David-Alexandre Beauregard goals.

Danbury had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Beacons closed the gap to 3-2 by the end of the period. Jay Murphy had two first period goals for Danbury while Bobby Ferraris netted his first with the Trashers

Port Huron scored a pair of 2nd period goals to take a 4-3 lead, but Alex Goupil scored a shorthanded goal, his 25th of the season from Bruce Richardson to tie the game at 4-4.

Mike Bayrack and Geno Parrish scored in the 3rd period for Danbury, but it was Beauregard's second goal of the night, a power-play goal that tied it at 6-6 to head to the shootout.

Ian Jacobs got the game-winning goal for Port Huron, who won the shootout phase 3-2.

TRASHERS CRUSH FLINT 5-0 AS NOVELLO RECORDS SHUTOUT

FLINT, MI--Frank Novello stopped all 24 shots that he faced in just his 2nd professional game as the Trashers pounded Flint 5-0 behind a pair of goals from defenseman Nicholas Bilotto.

Following a scoreless first period, Bilotto tagged his 7th and 8th goals of the season in the 2nd period, one on the power play and another shorthanded.

Bruce Richardson, Jay Murphy and Alex Goupil also scored for Danbury and each finished with one goal and one assist.

Nathan Grobins stopped 32 of 37 shots in the loss for Flint.

HOLLIS HAT TRICK, BOUCHARD'S FIVE-POINT NIGHT LEAD MUSKEGON OVER TRASHERS

MUSKEGON, MI--Robin Bouchard's two-goal, three assist night was overshadowed only by a Scott Hollis hat trick as the Muskegon Fury defeated the Danbury Trashers 7-2 on Friday night at the Walker Arena to earn the Tarry Cup and the top seed in the upcoming Colonial Cup Playoffs.

The Fury jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Bouchard and Todd Robinson before Danbury scored a power-play goal from Alex Goupil from Frank Belanger and Bruce Richardson at the 16:48 mark of the first. Muskegon added a goal with 16 seconds left in the period on the first from Hollis.

Muskegon added another pair of goals in the 2nd as Clay Wilson netted his 3rd of the season, while Hollis netted his 2nd with six seconds left in the period.

Bouchard's second of the night started the 3rd period off at the 1:09 mark, while Doug Christiansen scored his 24th of the year from Mike Bayrack at the 11:43 mark. Hollis' hat trick goal was at the 14:25 mark of the final period.

Ryan McIntosh started and saved 30 of 37 shots while Sly Daigle turned aside 28 of 30 Danbury shots. John Mirasty dropped the gloves with Jordon Flodell late in the 3rd period and scored a clear-cut decision after a series of rights to the head and a takedown at the 13:53 mark.

TRASHERS FALL 7-2 IN KALAMAZOO

KALAMAZOO, MI'In their final regular season match-up Kalamazoo jumped out to a 4-0 1st period lead and never looked back as the Wings defeated the Trashers 7-2 at Wings Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Trashers reached the scoreboard twice as P.J. Byrne and Mike Bayrack netted goals for Danbury. Byrne's goal was his first of the season while Bayrack's raised his team-leading total to 36.

Scott Stirling started in goal but was pulled in favor of Ryan McIntosh after the Wings jumped to a 3-0 lead at 13:39 of the 1st period. Joel Martin picked up his 17th win of the season for the Wings.

TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE FOR OPENING ROUND OF COLONIAL CUP PLAYOFFS

Danbury, CT'The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League have announced the sale of first round tickets to the 2004-05 Colonial Cup Playoffs.

The Trashers will host the Adirondack Frostbite in the opening round on Wednesday April 20th and Friday April 22nd with both games starting at 7:30pm. Adirondack will host the first two games on April 15th and 16th at 7:35pm.

All tickets to first round playoff games at the Danbury Ice Arena will cost $15.00 each. Currently tickets for the first two games at the Danbury Ice Arena are available. Ticket sales for subsequent playoff games will be announced in the event that they become guaranteed dates.

All fans interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2005-06 campaign are now able to do so. With tickets priced at $570.00 ($15/game) and $494.00 ($13/game), it is a reasonably inexpensive way to enjoy great hockey action at the Danbury Ice Arena next season.

Season ticket holders will save $57.00 over the course of the season as opposed to buying single-game seats while having the opportunity to have the same great seats for every game. In addition, past season ticket holders have been invited to exclusive events including post-game receptions and skating events with the players with more great events expected for next year's season ticket subscribers.
