Trade Brings All-Star Forward Nathan Moon to Colorado

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames and Adirondack Flames of the AHL, announced Tuesday that they have acquired forward Nathan Moon from the Evansville Icemen, in exchange for defenseman Daniel Johnston. A fourth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008, Moon was named to the ECHL All-Star Team in 2013 and played against the Colorado Eagles during the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game at the Budweiser Events Center.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound winger posted 81 points and 154 penalty minutes in 96 games with Evansville. In addition, the 24 year-old has appeared in 86 AHL games with the Worcester Sharks and Springfield Falcons, registering 14 goals and 22 assists. Moon also captured a CHL title with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs as a rookie in 2011.

The Belleville, Ontario native enjoyed a standout career at the major-junior level, spending five seasons in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs. In 316 games with the Frontenacs, Moon generated 332 points and 378 penalty minutes.

Johnston joined the Eagles as a rookie during the 2013-14 season, posting 29 points in 65 games. This season, the 22 year-old notched one assist in four games with Colorado.
