Stockton Thunder News Release
After starting the season 2-1-0 against the Bakersfield Condors, the Thunder welcomed in the Alaska Aces to Stockton Arena for a two-game set last Friday and Saturday.
Friday night saw the Thunder score the first goal for the first time this season as the team took a 2-0 lead into the dressing room after 20 minutes of play, including a first career goal for Adam Phillips.
Unfortunately for the Thunder, the rest of the way saw the score line inflate on the other side of the ice as the Aces put up six goals in the second and third periods to beat the Thunder 6-4.
The Thunder came back out the next night with another great effort to start the game, and this time, the Thunder finished strong as well. The team killed eight penalties, including a couple 2-man-advantages and got a 49 save performance from goaltender Shane Owen in the Thunder's 4-1 rebound win over the Aces.
The Thunder now take on the Pacific Division leading Idaho Steelheads in a three game set this week. Head over to the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel to watch the games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, all beginning at 6:10 PST.

Chasing History
Ryan Constant has tied Nathan Martz' franchise record 97 assists with an assist on Ryan Hayes' goal Saturday against the Aces. He is one assist away from rewriting team history with his team record 98th assist.
It could be a two way race between Constant and veteran captain Garet Hunt for who can break Mike Lalonde's franchise record for points. Lalonde's 156 points is currently better than Hunt's 140 (15 away from tying) and Constant's 135 (20 away from tying). Hunt also needs 21 goals to tie Lalonde's all-time record of 72 goals.
Interesting News and Notes
James Henry and Peter Sivak are tied for third in the league with 7 points apiece.
Peter Sivak is on a league best 5-game assist streak and is also tied with Kalamazoo's Curtis Valk and former Thunder player Brayden Irwin for the longest point streak in the league (5 games).
Shane Owen's 2.00 goals-against-average ranks him in the top 10 goaltenders in the league in that category.
Owen's 49-save performance on Saturday is the most saves made by a goaltender in the league so far this season
Stockton has the sixth best penalty killing unit in the league having killed off 93.3% of penalties taken.
The Thunder have allowed the most shots in the league with 193 shots finding the way to Shane Owen or Philippe Trudeau. The team is averaging 31.60 shots per game, good enough for seventh league wide.
