ASHEVILLE, NC - The Asheville Tourists came back to tie up Thursday night's game against the Kannapolis Intimidators not once, not twice, not three times, but on four separate occasions. Unfortunately, Asheville was never able to overtake Kannapolis and fell 10-7 in ten innings.

The Tourists were behind 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fourth but rallied for three runs to tie the score. Sam Hilliard connected with a two-run double and Jonathan Piron added an RBI single. After the Intimidators made it 5-4 with a run in the fifth, Hilliard tied the game again; this time with a sacrifice fly.

Trailing 6-5 heading into the seventh, Josh Fuentes connected with his fourth hit of the evening; an RBI double to score Brian Mundell. Asheville just could not keep Kannapolis off the scoreboard as the road team once again took the lead in the top of the ninth. Danny Mendick sinlged home a run to make it 7-6.

In the bottom of the ninth with Mylz Jones at second base, Mundell popped out into foul territory up the first base line. Jones tagged from second and ended up scoring when the throw from Corey Zangari went wide of his intended target.

Zangari redeemed himself in the top of the tenth. With two outs and two runners aboard, the Intimidators first baseman launched a three-run Home Run to right-centerfield. Asheville did manage to bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the tenth, but Carlos Herrera grounded out to end the game.

Asheville has now lost three straight while Kannapolis put an end to their six-game losing streak. Game two of the series is scheduled for Friday night at 7:05pm.
