ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia dropped the series finale to Rome on Wednesday afternoon, 8-5. The Fireflies fell behind 6-0 in the second inning but rallied back and brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth frame. David Thompson knocked in two runs increasing his season total to a league-best 40 RBIs.
DÃJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN: The last time Columbia was in Charleston, the Fireflies no-hit the RiverDogs. On April 9, Thomas McIlraith, Alex Palsha and Johnny Magliozzi blanked their southern division foes and won 9-0 - capturing the franchise's first win in the process.
HIT 'EM WITH A LEFT: Columbia faces RiverDogs left-hander Nestor Cortes for the first time on Thursday. A few Fireflies have had excellent season's so far against lefties:

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Fireflies have made winning road series a habit. Columbia has lost just one series away from home (the first series of the season against Charleston) and are tied with Hickory for the best road winning percentage in the league (.666). The Fireflies are 12-6 away from home.
CAN'T MISS: Reliever Craig Missigman tossed his brightest outing out of the bullpen on Wednesday. The righty went 3.2 innings, didn't allow a run and scattered just two hits. He also struck out three batters.
THE OTHER GUYS: The RiverDogs have five Yankees prospects on their roster according to Baseball America: (5) INF Trey Amburgey-DL ... (15) OF Jhalan Jackson ... (25) INF Hoy June Park ... (27) INF Kyle Holder ... (30) INF Thairo Estrada.
