PREVIEW: The Delmarva Shorebirds open up a two city tour over the next seven days with a four game series in Lakewood, New Jersey. The BlueClaws are the Class A Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The 'Birds just concluded a homestand with a 5-2 mark, taking both series from Greensboro and West Virginia. Since opening the season with a 4-6 mark and losing two of the first three series on the campaign, the Shorebirds have a series record of 6-1-1 over their last eight sets, going 18-10 over that stretch. Lakewood opened the season 1-9 and has been fighting an uphill battle ever since then. They had won six in a row after sweeping West Virginia May 12th through the 15th, and had won eight of 10 games, but they open a seven game homestand tonight after being swept by Hagerstown the last three days - they are now 0-9 against the Suns this season.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Right-hander Luke Leftwich gets the ball in the series opener for Lakewood. Leftwich was Philadelphia's 7th round selection in the 2015 MLB First Year Player Draft out of Wofford College in South Carolina. Tonight will be his 18th career appearance and 16th career start, first against Delmarva. Leftwich has won each of his last three straight starts and has allowed just two runs in his last 18.0 innings of work.

LAST GAME QUICK HITS: Delmarva pounded West Virginia in the series finale, 10-1, to win the three game set. Steve Laurino had a four-hit game and drove in five runs, both career-highs for him. Alex Murphy finished 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 10 games, highest by a Shorebird this year. Cedric Mullins tallied his third consecutive three-hit game, pushing his season average up to .280. Delmarva trailed 1-0 3 pitches in before the bats got rolling and never floundered.
