Solid Start for Fried, Rome Over Augusta 8-3

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves topped the Augusta GreenJackets Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium 8-3 before 2,202 fans. Rome starter Max Fried allowed just one run on one hit in five innings of work.

Rome jumped on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Austin Riley and a run scoring single by Jonathan Morales. After Augusta scored a run in the fourth, the Braves added three runs in the bottom of the inning on a two RBI single by Bradley Keller and an Alejandro Sanchez base hit to score another run making it a 5-1 game.

Augusta's Dillion Dobson cracked a solo home run in the eighth for the 5-2 score but Rome answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs. Kellor had an RBI double and Luke Dykstra doubled home two more runs for the 8-2 score. The GreenJackets added a run in the ninth but Rome shut them down the rest of the way for the 8-3 final. Braves pitching held Augusta to just three hits on the night.

Fried (2-2) gets the win while Grant Watson (2-3) is tagged with the loss.
