Asheville Tourists News Release

Rome, GA--Asheville won their second straight game Saturday night and improved their road record to 7-3 by defeating the Rome Braves 1-0.

The Tourists' T.J. Oakes and the Braves' Rafael Briceno engaged in quite the pitcher's duel.

Oakes went 5.2 innings and did not allow a run while Briceno last six innings and surrendered just one run.

Asheville took a 1-0 lead when Francisco Sosa led off the fourth inning with his third Home Run of the season. The Tourists then put runners at second and third with just one out, but Briceno worked out of the jam without allowing any further damage. That was all the Tourists would need.

Brook Hart came in to record the final out of the bottom of the sixth for the Tourists and Rayan Gonzalez worked a scoreless seventh and eighth. Raul Fernandez notched his fifth save by striking out the side in the ninth.

The Braves only managed to put a runner at third base once in the game. Jose Briceno notched his first multi-hit game as a Tourist by going 3-for-4 and Rosell Herrera extended his hitting streak to nine games with a 2-for-4 performance.
