Tourists Place Wetzel on DL; Dodson Promoted
May 15, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
The Asheville Tourists have placed second baseman Erik Wetzel on the disabled list with a broken left hand. Wetzel suffered the injury earlier this week against the Rome Braves. Through 13 appearances this season, Wetzel has a .300 batting average with two RBIs and six stolen bases.
Taking Wetzel's spot on the Tourists' roster is right-handed pitcher Stephne Dodson. The Colorado Rockies' 10th-round draft pick in 2008, Dodson pitched at the University of Georgia. He opened this season in extended spring training, and will make his professional debut when he takes the mound for Asheville.
The Tourists open a four-game series against the Augusta GreenJackets at McCormick Field on Friday, beginning at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available for all four contests. For more information, contact the Tourists front office at (828) 258-0428.
