LEXINGTON, Ky. - With the 7-1 win tonight, Sand Gnats Manager Edgar Alfonzo has notched his 200th career victory. His career record as a manger stands at 200-126.

This is Fonzie's first season with the Sand Gnats and his fifth season at the helm of a Mets farm-system club. He has spent most of his managerial career as the skipper of the Brooklyn Cyclones, where he holds a 146-79 career record in three seasons with the short-season club.

In 2001, Brooklyn's first season, Alfonzo piloted the team to a 52-24 record, the McNamara Division title and a New York-Penn League Co-Championship. For his accomplishments that season, Alfonzo was named the Short Season Manager of the Year by Baseball America.

Prior to his work in the Empire State, Alfonzo was the manager of the Kingsport Mets (Appalachian League) and led them to a 35-32 mark in the year 2000.

During his time in the Mets organization he has also spent time as a coach (St. Lucie, 1998-99, 2002) and hitting coach (Binghamton, 2003). From 2004-06, Fonzie was the Mets Minor League Infield Coordinator.

As a manger, Alfonzo has never finished a season with a losing record.
