Lexington Legends News Release

Josh Satin's grand slam with two out in the top of the ninth inning broke open a close game as Savannah beat Lexington 7-1 in the opener of a four-game series at Applebee's Park.

Savannah took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Eric Campbell doubled home Sean Ratliff. The Legends tied it in the sixth. With one out, Jay Austin singled. Andy Simunic followed with a single, moving Austin to third, but Simunic was thrown out trying to advance to second. Ebert Rosario doubled down the right field line to score Austin.

A two-out, two-run double by Campbell put Savannah up 3-1 in the eighth. In the ninth, with two out and the bases empty, Jefry Marte walked. Jordany Valdespin reached on an error by pitcher Ashton Mowdy, and Juan Lagares followed with an infield hit. Satin then hit the grand slam to right center field.

Savannah starter Jeff Kaplan (4-1) pitched seven innings to get the win. Jack Tilghman (1-3), who relieved starter Arcenio Leon in the fifth inning, took the loss, though he allowed only one run in three and two-thirds innings.

The two teams meet again Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
