OHL Owen Sound Attack

Tough Test Await Attack as Calendar Flips to November

November 3, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The first month of the OHL season is behind us. The Attack had a very up and down opening month, with mixed results. On one hand the team came out and showed that they would be competitive every game, after three straight meetings with London all decided by a single goal, but the team also showed lapses and their inexperience with a pair of blowout loses to Guelph. Overall, Owen Sound comes out of the month with three wins and a lot of lessons learned.

This coming weekend the Attack have a pair of games against Midwest divisional rivals. First up is the fifth meeting of the season against the Knights, as Owen Sound travels to London for their third trip in five weeks to Budweiser Gardens. As mentioned the first three meetings between the two division rivals were decided by a single goal, before London took game four, by a 4-1 score. In that game the Attack were slow and sloppy in the opening 20 minutes, and the Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead early, but the last 40 minutes saw Owen Sound as the better team, however, they were unable to climb out of the hole they dug. There is more than just avoiding a fifth straight loss for the Attack, as they will look to end London's perfect start to the season Friday night as well.

The Bears will then return home to the Den, where they will welcome Kitchener for the teams first meeting of the season. The Rangers had their own strong start to the season, as they matched London with a perfect 5-0 record before falling to Guelph in game six, but will still provide a stiff test for the young Attack. The Rangers are lead by four veteran forwards, who have all collected double digit points through the first month of the season. This group is highlighted Francesco Pinelli, who was the 42nd overall draft selection in the 2021 NHL Draft to the Los Angeles Kings. The Saturday night game against the Rangers will also be the Attack's Special Olympics Ontario game night, with more details regarding that coming soon.

Overall, the month of November does not start favourably for Owen Sound as they will try and come away with a pair of wins against the top two teams in the Midwest Division, but also offered a good measuring stick on how the Attack match-up against the top teams.

The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomatoes located in the Galaxy Plaza on the sunset strip.
