November 3, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - Carey Terrance, the #10 overall pick in the 2021 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft, will represent the Erie Otters and the OHL at the four-team Capital City Challenge tournament in Ottawa, ON.
In a release announcing the one-off event, Hockey Canada stated 'The Capital City Challenge will serve as a one-time event to replace the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, which was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, while providing an opportunity for Canada's National Women's Team to compete as part of its centralization schedule.".
This will be the second U17-style tournament for Terrance, who was named to the U.S. Selects team in the 2021 Five Nations Tournament in Visp, Switzerland - where he scored five points (3G+2A) in three games for the tournament-champion USA team. The 16-year-old forward from Akwesasne, NY has played in five games for the Otters to start his rookie season, scoring his first-career goal on Sunday, October 24.
The preliminary-round of the Challenge will start Friday, November 26 at 12 P.M. EST at TD Place Arena in Ottawa - home of the OHL's Ottawa 67's - with Canada's National Women's Team taking on Team Canada White. Team Canada Black and Team Canada Red will close the day's action at 7 P.M. EST. The preliminary-round will conclude on Monday, Nov. 29, with the Challenge's semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and the medal games on Wednesday, December 1.
