The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 2-0-0-0 this past week.
On Friday night, Toronto traveled to New York where they defeated the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 2-1 in overtime. Spencer Abbott notched both Toronto goals, while Trevor Smith added two assists. Christopher Gibson stopped 23 of 24 shots to earn the victory.
After a rare Saturday off, the Marlies returned to the ice on Sunday to defeat the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, by a score of 4-1 at Ricoh Coliseum. Greg McKegg notched two goals while Sam Carrick and Jerry D'Amigo added single tallies for Toronto. Christopher Gibson earned his second victory of the week, making 33 saves. Toronto went 1-for- 2 on the powerplay and 2-for- 2 on the penalty kill.
Look Ahead:
Toronto will take to the ice four times this coming week. The Marlies travel to Cleveland tonight for a 7 p.m. game against the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Andrew Agozzino leads the Monsters with 37 points in 60 games.
Toronto returns home on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators.
Calle Jarnkrok leads the Admirals with 43 points in 62 games. In their third game of the week, the Marlies will host the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Ben Street and Max Reinhart each have 46 points to lead the Heat in scoring. In their final game of the week, Toronto will host the Rochester Americans at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Phil Varone leads the Amerks in scoring with 50 points.
