Blackhawks Agree to Terms with Mashinter

Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Brandon Mashinter on a two-year contract extension through the end of the 2015-16 National Hockey League season.

Mashinter, who was acquired by the Blackhawks from the New York Rangers on Dec. 6, has recorded 23 points (11g, 12a) in 34 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Prior to the trade, the 25-year-old forward appeared in six NHL games with the Rangers and tallied eight points (1g, 7a) in 11 games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

The Bradford, Ontario, native has appeared in 23 career NHL games with New York and San Jose, and has registered 158 points (76g, 82a) in 316 career AHL games with Worcester, Hartford and Rockford.

Mashinter was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 3, 2009.

Next Home Game: Saturday, March 22 vs. Chicago Wolves. Puck drop is 7 p.m. It is country night with the IceHogs and the first 1,500 fans through the gate will receive a cowboy hat courtesy of Frito Lay. Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys will be performing live at the game.
