What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies

- The Marlies currently rank 15th (tie) in AHL powerplay percentage (16.9%) and 23rd in AHL penalty kill percentage (81.0%)

- Toronto ranks 2nd (tie) in AHL shots against per game, having given up an average of 25.25 shots against

- The Marlies announced yesterday that Garret Sparks has been reassigned to Orlando (ECHL) and Christopher Gibson has been recalled from Orlando.

Last Week:

In four games last week the Toronto Marlies posted a record of 3-1-0-0.

On Thursday, the Marlies were defeated 3-1 by the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Josh Leivo scored the lone goal, while Drew MacIntyre stopped 24 shots in the loss.

Toronto returned home on Saturday afternoon where they defeated the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, by a score of 4-1. Greg McKegg notched four points and Drew MacIntyre made 30 saves on 31 shots.

On Sunday afternoon, the Marlies edged the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, by a score of 3-2 in a shootout. Jamie Devane and Korbinian Holzer had Toronto's goals and Sam Carrick tallied the shootout winning goal.

Sunday also marked the first game in a Marlies uniform for Brad Staubitz.

In their final game of the week, Toronto defeated Charlotte for the second time in four days. Troy Bodie and Josh Leivo each had two points, while Drew MacIntyre stopped 15 of 17 shots.

Look Ahead:

The Marlies will take to the ice for two games this coming week. Toronto will travel to the state of Texas for their first of two trips this season. On Saturday, the Marlies head to Austin for a 7 p.m. (CST) game against the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars. Travis Morin leads the Stars in scoring with 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 14 games.

Morin also leads the AHL in points. Texas has the number one ranked powerplay in the American Hockey League, with a 26.9% success rate. On Sunday, Toronto visits the San Antonio Rampage, AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers.

Rookie forward Vincent Trocheck leads the Rampage in scoring with 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 17 games. San Antonio currently sits 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 8-8- 0-1.
