WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks (@WorcesterSharks) General Manager Joe Will announced today the signing of forward Dan DaSilva to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Returning for his second tour of duty with the Worcester Sharks, the 28-year-old from Saskatoon, SASK led the ECHL with 26 points (7-19-26) in just 14 games for the Ontario Reign and was recently named the ECHL Player of the Week for Nov 11-17.
DaSilva currently ranks 9th all-time in Worcester Sharks history with 107 points (43-64-107) in 178 games for Team Teal and is the franchise leader in playoff points with 18 (5-13-18) in 23 Calder Cup playoff games with the Sharks.
A member of the original Crazed Rats Line with John McCarthy and Andrew Desjardins; DaSilva had his best professional season with the Worcester Sharks in 2010-11 as he set career highs in points (53), goals (21), assists (32), and was +23 as the Sharks won the regular season Atlantic Division title with a 49-25-0-6 record.
"We are excited to bring Dan back to the Sharks organization with his track record of scoring goals and being a great teammate," said Joe Will. "Ontario Reign head coach Jason Christie has done a terrific job coaching DaSilva over the last season and we look forward to Dan to give our lineup a boost for this upcoming 3-in-3 weekend."
In his career, Dan has played in 322 AHL games with Lowell, Albany, Worcester, and Houston accumulating 74 goals, 94 assists, and 168 points. The 6-foot-1, 195lb veteran has also played in the ECHL with San Diego, Phoenix, and Ontario; in the CHL with Arizona; and in the KHL with Poprad Lev.
DaSilva will wear #22 with the Worcester Sharks and will practice with the team on Wednesday.
