Albany Devils Stay Red Hot

Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils extended their winning streak to four games, defeating divisional rival the Hartford Wolf Pack, 3-0, Wednesday at Times Union Center. Netminder Keith Kinkaid moved his win streak to six games, tying a franchise record as the Devils improve to 10-6-0-1 with wins in five of their last six games.

"We're going to have to win by committee and get some timely goals," said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. "It's not always about the same guys and making the same plays or scoring every night. From night to night and period to period it's about doing it at the right time and getting contributions from all over the place."

Kinkaid, who is the reigning CCM/AHL Player of the Week, posted his second shutout and seventh of his career. His last shutout came two games ago during a 3-0 win at Hartford last Friday. Against the Wolf Pack Wednesday, he made 24 saves to improve to 7-1-1 overall. He joins Jeff Frazee (Nov. 21-Dec. 5, 2008) and Mike McKenna (Mar. 5-11, 2011) as the only goaltenders in franchise history to win six consecutive games.

"I want to keep this going," Kinkaid said. "You're hot and you want to just keep it going. It's a good streak so far and we'll see how long it lasts."

The Devils, who are now 9-0-0-0 when leading after two periods, built a 2-0 lead during the middle frame. Stefan Matteau opened the scoring at 5:19 with assists from Tim Sestito and Joe Whitney. Reid Boucher followed at 11:17, setup by Mike Sislo and Kelly Zajac.

In the third, Brandon Burlon slammed in a rebound at 1:03 to make the score 3-0. The power-play goal featured help from Boucher and Whitney.

"I thought the second half of the third period, we just won battles, got pucks deep and kept it simple," Kowalsky said. "That's all you have to do. You have to make them come 200 feet."

Albany, which outshot Hartford 25-24, went 1-3 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill.

Next up, the Devils travel to face the Springfield Falcons Friday at 7 pm. Fans can follow the action at ahllive.com or on 104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio.
