
Tornadoes sweep Sussex 6-0

WORCESTER, MA- The Tornadoes swept the Sussex Skyhawks as they won 6-0 on Thursday night in front of their 17th sellout crowd of 3,354 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
The Tornadoes scored first in the third inning-29 and 13 when scoring first--as Josh Beauregard hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jeff LaHair who reached base on a double.
They began manufacturing runs again in the sixth when designated hitter Jabe Bergeron drew a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly from LaHair. Current Can Am League batter of the week, Elliott Shea had an RBI double that scored catcher Patrick Perry. Josh Beauregard added on his eighth league leading triple and had an RBI to put the Tornadoes up 4-0.
The Tornadoes tacked on a run in the seventh as Bergeron laced a double and then advanced to third on a single by Bob Tewksbary. Bergeron would score on a pass ball. Josh Beauregard had his second sacrifice fly and third RBI of the night in the eighth to put the Tornadoes up 6-0.
Starting pitcher Junior Guerrero took the win and went seven innings giving up a miniscule four hits and no runs as he had a season high 11 strikeouts. The loss went to Lincoln Mincks who went 5.2. innings allowing nine hits and four runs (all earned).
The Tornadoes honored the Jesse Burkett Softball Massachusetts State Championship Majors, Juniors and Seniors teams before the game.
The Tornadoes travel to North Shore to take on the Spirit tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M. and will begin a four-game set as Reid Willett is takes the mound.
